...and in the eyes of a 'First Timer'April 21, 1996 Note: The layout design and pictures were made by MJ Taipan (Perry's lil' cousin) You may send comments, etc. to his e-mail: mark@taipannet.com
Somewhere 'round the end of August and the beginning of September of '95 I finally upgraded my frame to a Giant ATX890 Aluminum. Wow what a weight difference from the Cromoly. It really allowed me to throw my bike around alot more than I had before (look out air!). The big goal for the remaining of the year was to race/ride the Fall Series in the First Timer class. One, I knew I was in no shape (and am still in terrible shape today...hehe) to race/ride the Beginner class and two, to gain some experience and see what this sport was really all about. And OH what a BLAST I had. First of all the comradery in this sport is great. There are alot of good people that you get to ride with and support you. Being in a First Timers class that really helps. Not only can you get good advice (from everyone) but you can always share a silly riding story (i.e. bad crashes and burns on some of the more technical parts of courses from the past, or even a bad wreck on the practice lap). It always nice to meet new people with nice dispositions. Here is the race schedule and the associated sponsor:
...and believe it or not, I made it to all of em (but didn't race Jacksonville?). Hehe, I was proud.
